The Queen Elisabeth Competition has taken the decision to organise the first round and the semi-final of the 2012 violin session at Flagey (Studio 4).

Since a few years the current condition of the Royal Brussels Conservatory makes it difficult to organise an event that is broadcast on radio and television. The security of the infrastructure needed for the recording of the competition sessions can no longer be guaranteed. The Competition actively supports the Conservamus initiative and hopes that the renovation plans will be executed as soon as possible.

The partnership with Flagey will last for the time necessary to renovate the grand concert hall of the Conservatory.

The 2012 Violin Competition will mark the 75th anniversary of the Queen Elisabeth Competition, established in 1937 under the name of the renowned Belgian violinist Eugène Ysaÿe. More information about the public rounds and tickets will be available as from mid-January on this website:
